Air Horns

Can anyone fix my seemingly unfixable car horn.?

I recently purchased a renault clio. Unbeknown to me when I bought it the horn did not work (my fault for not checking i know). I'v changed the fuse, changed the horn itself and now changed the switch as well, all to no avail. What else can i change apart from the car. Can any1 help me, is there anything else I can test or is it possible to have a completely new horn (horn, fuse, wiring, switch, whole lot) installed to the car.

  1. You can have a button installed on the dash wired to a new horn. After market horns are available!
  2. I think your problem is grounding. The way most horns work is that power is constantly on to the horn circuit and activates when you depress the horn switch on the wheel. There are 2 ways to check this, both require removal of the steering wheel. 1. If you know how to use a VOM, which is a volt ohm meter, check for the presence of 12 volts dc on the wire coming up out of the steering column, if that is present, take a piece of bare wire, touch one end to the wire on the column and the other to some bare metal, or a bare metal bolt, if it blows, your column is poorly grounded. If what I just mentioned works, send me a note and I will explain how to do this. Horns are basically simple, but can be hard to troubleshoot. I just did one that wrestled me to the ground.
