Air Horns

Why did this horn start blaring on its own?

At 3:45am this morning, I woke up to my dads truck horn blow for nearly a fulll minute, then stop. A few minutes later, it started again and would not stop. When I went outside and pressed on it, it stopped for a second then continued until we disconnected the battery. What happened??? (1994 Ford F150) There's no alarm on it.

2. the horn assembly has probably got a short in it.
3. Is it connected to an alarm system of some type?
4. its probably a fuse going bad, or one of the wires connceted to the horn is messed up.
5. usually the contacts in the horn pad are seperated by foam, when you press the pad the foam squishes and the contacts complete the circuit to ground the horn relay and honk the horn. If this foam has detereriorated with age/ use then the contacts can touch when you're not pressing the horn. If you can get the horn to stay honking disconnect the horn pad and see if it quits. Th other most common problem is the wire that runs up the length of the column becomes bare and touches ground, pulling in the relay and honking the horn. Hope this helps
