Bike wont start and makes a clicking sound?

I went to start my bike and it back fired and now it wont start it just makes a clicking sound from the seat area. All my lights and horn works though Any thoughts?

1. Check the starter.
2. I would say the battery but you said the lights work. Maybe an alternator?
3. almost flat battery ??????? do the lights go off when u try to start it. If so the batt is goosed. If not, then it sound like the starter solenoid is OK, but the the starter motor is goosed and jammed. Rill it done hill, jump on on, ignition on, clutch in, put it in 3rd, left clutch out, should start. Check that battery is charging at about 14.5 V. If it is, but still will not start, try jump starting off a car or another bike, is still no good, then its the starter motor,
4. Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer. A constant clicking noise like a machine gun is a defective starter solenoid. The battery (+) cable goes to the solenoid.

6. your battery is almost dead just enough juice to run the lights though.
